Saturday, 8/29/15 Having fun in new ways
Sunday, August 30, 2015
I am speaking in church tomorrow--Pastor Mariah asked if anyone had a spiritual experience in their gardens and I knew she was talking to me (even though she didn't know it.) I have found it to be energizing and awesome to spend hours pulling weeds and watering plants. Planting was fun too and getting dirt under my nails to the point that I have to clean out my nail polish and do it all over doesn't bother me either. I realized, after getting a notice from Facebook that listed all of my comments from a year ago in June that I knew why this was fun for me even though it was tedious and undesirable work on the parts of many... A year ago, I was paralyzed from the waist down and was living with the words that "you will probably never walk again" resonating in my head.
I have went through more than my fair share of miracles with 3 close to dying experiences in my life (and 2 of those were a year ago.) When I go outside--which is almost every day unless it is really raining hard, I feel like "a kid in a candy shop"--as the saying goes. I no longer need a walker or a cane or a wheelchair or poles after 12 years of that support. I can celebrate that I can pull weeds or move a plant or water in the late hours or whatever suits me to help my garden. My entire life is a celebration and I am glad to be in it these days in particular.
I'll talk more about another topic later--but if you are counting, we went to our 108th and final Open House at school for any of our kids. Micah is a senior this year. That is unbelievable. Matthew started kindergarten in 1986 and that was the first of many things that we have attended. It is odd that that is all on the downhill side of things as well.
Have a great new week!
