To Dye or Not To Dye - That is the question re chemicals into my brain
Monday, August 24, 2015
I'm two months out from doing my roots; yes, I lighten my hair and lately I've been wondering about those awful chemicals that seep directly into my brain. My roots are kinda light with some gray, and not that terrible looking. I've thought about foregoing the hair dye for good, but really enjoy the overall look when I do color it.
More reasons for the delay is if I continue to do the aqua classes; the chlorine really does a number on hair color. (yes, I had trouble with the chlorine burning my lungs, but a SP friend suggested trying different pools that might be better.) Plus, we are now entering what could be the hottest temps of the year that could extend into October. I'm not a hat wearer, but have started wearing a baseball cap when the sun is particularly strong. Between chlorine and sun, it would damage hair color pretty badly.
I hate to blog about trivial things like this when life is so full of stresses and sorrows. My life is always full of them, so I like to pick the light topics to distract myself. (smiling) Hugs go out to my SP friends who are not feeling well. And also to those who've recently lost their furry babies.
I also want to do a shout-out to all of the firefighters who have been fighting these raging fires throughout CA for the past month or more. With very little water, high temperatures, and some winds, it is an almost-impossible task.
As far as the hair color goes, I think I'll just try to stretch out the in-between periods longer so that the dye chemicals are not penetrating as often as I used to do. My hair in the photo (orange leather jacket) is a curly upsweep behind my head. My hair is long and a real pain to color. I wear it in so many ways. That's another reason - I'm just lazy about some things. Long hair is a pain sometimes. But coloring is the only vanity-prep that I do (aside from light makeup), so I feel entitled. Oh, the things we women do!
I think it's time for a new photo. I'll have to take some soon. And then learn how to get it off a new phone and little camera.
Okay, friends, have a wonderful day.
