Just a quickie...life just never stops for reflection much these days...whew!
So cool to welcome three pro bicyclists to my humble abode as they are riding in the Chris Thater races this weekend:
hey arrived at 1 a.m. this morning. I was up at 6 a.m. to get ready for my volunteer stint in assisting in registering all the bicyclists. I wanted to prep a slow cooker with my "killer" oatmeal (no sugar, lots of raisins, craisins, walnuts and a few eggs to hearty it up and a good dollop of butter).
I left the cyclists sleeping in my apartment as I rode off to volunteer. Later I hung out at our bike club's tent for a bit and ran into the bicyclists later. They raved about the oatmeal.
Then I rode with the bike club...we got one lap around the official track downtown with lots of cheers...even if we AREN'T racers...lol! It is SO COOL to see the enthusiasm and participation in these bicycle races and to see our downtown area come ALIVE with activity!
Our bike club then took off for one of our favorite haunts, the River Road loop.
I realized I was taking a leap of faith by allowing the cyclists free reign of my apartment this morning, but I really wasn't worried. They were young, muscular, but turn-sideways-disappear-skinny and very friendly and polite.
They hauled their bikes into the apartment overnight...don't blame them! Their bikes are probably $10,000 a pop...that's around $30,000 worth of gear gracing my living quarters...wow!
So what was the state of my apartment? Neat as a pin...just as I'd left it!
The bicyclists are from the Chicago area, not too far from our family business from which my father retired:
This world keeps getting smaller and smaller...thanks to WarmShowers.org! :-)
After a short night's sleep and a short, but hard (felt good to put the pedal to the mettle!) ride, my gas tank is sputtering near empty, but it's the good tired one gets from living a life filled with SPARK!
Tonight I'll enjoy a quiet, mellow night...already enjoying my pause to reflect and share my day!
Keep 'er Sparkin' everyone!
