An EF1 tornado went through last night, and luckily we sustained no damage.
After a storm knocked out our power around 9:30, we sat in the dark with the dogs, waiting to dash to the basement if need be. We heard nothing but some wind, so we stayed put, and when the warning expired at 10 PM we went to bed.
We woke up this morning still without power, a bit annoyed (if I'm being honest).
Power went back on at 11 AM, so I was satisfied. Late this afternoon, constantly circling helicopters overhead piqued my curiosity, so I looked online for a news story about the storm. Local TV news site featured a picture of the barn roof of my neighbor across the street, whose barn is 100 feet from our property line. The roof had been largely peeled off and they six lost trees, some of which fell and destroyed five telephone poles.
I'm humbled and grateful, to say the least.
