Sport saved my life!!!

Saturday, August 15, 2015

When I first started working out I was about 14 and it was TaeBo, by Billy Blanks. I could barely breathe and my main motivation was the pain I had inside me after all the bullying. I wanted to give up many times, but it was the only way I could get my mind off the frustration. There were times when I exercised in order to punish myself for eating the wrong food in the wrong amount.
Now, after 5 years of hating myself, I know for sure that sport saved me: it saved me from my bad thoughts, it saved me from the hate I had for the ones that ruined my self-esteem, it saved me from giving up on myself.
Everyone says how important sport is for our bodies, for our health, but very few state the real benefits of it: it gives you the oportunity to find yourself. When you are sweating like you just got out of the shower, when you breathe like that is your last chance to taste the air, when you fall on your knees wanting to give up, but pushing until the end, those are the moments when you find yourself and see how strong you are. In those kind of moments your mind tells you to stop, but what makes you a winner is the fact that you no longer listen to that voice, instead, you listen to your body, your happy body, which deserves your respect and your love.
Moving even for 10 minutes is better than not moving at all.
Think about how much your body loves you: every cell fights for you to be alive and function properly in every moment, your heart, your lungs, your arms and legs, everything is part of who you are.
Your body loves you so much, it is time for you to love it back!
