Well, I've decided beach camping.
When my friend told me last minute yesterday about an overnight camping trip at the beach, I thought "Yea, I'll definitely be there." But, today I woke up, and I was like, "Ugh, its so much work, so many things to get together, set up the tent just for one night, just to take it down again in the morning."
Then as the day progressed I thought, "What exercise should I do today? Yoga, walking, dancing.... " And then I thought "Setting up and taking down the tent will be good exercise and it'll be nice to see friends and spend some time outdoors for a change. What else am I going to do? Sit at home, in my air conditioned bedroom all day, because it'll likely be 100 degrees out tomorro. I'll probably end up ordering delivery and not doing much movement at all. I'll probably end up going out for a stroll on the beach as well. Even though last time, there was unfortunately tar everywhere in the sand, but maybe it's cleared up now"
I need to get out of the house more and do fun things that are active. I'm starting to feel too bogged down with the monotony of working monday thru friday and then basically sitting around my apartment all weekend. Well, not all weekend, I do chores, cleaning, cooking and such. But, I need to make it a point to take a break and get out of the house more on weekends, see friends and do more fun things.
I was hiking every weekend, but since I've decided to only do 10 minute workouts each day, it doens't really make sense to drive out to a hiking location just to walk up the hill 5 minutes. Even though hey, I might just do that anyway, why not, I love hiking. 10 minutes on a trail is better than nothing. I'll just go to the trail that's only 3 minutes from my house. And when I build up my workouts to a longer amount of time, then I'll hit the big hikes further away.
So, off I go, leaving work shortly, headed home, gonna feed the cats, and gather tent, air matress, blankets, chairs, clothes, sunscreen, bug repellant, etc.
