Planning to Overcome the Obstacles

So I am on Week 1, Day 2 of the 5-week 5K program. Today was a marathon day at work after being out of the office all day yesterday. I knew it was going to involve four late afternoon interviews followed a 6:30 pm meeting. So I planned ahead and threw my running clothes & shoes in the car this morning. The meeting ended at 7:45 and according to The Weather Channel sunset would be 8:21 in my neck of the woods. Didn't leave a whole lot of time to change clothes, drive to the track, and get the full program in before dark. Luckily, one of my "running" friends just happened to show up with her daughter for a spur of the moment run so I had company. God is good and I think He is with me in my efforts.
But all of this got me to thinking. How can I improve on pulling everything together in the morning and how am I going to deal with obstacles like the approaching winter? I love the idea that I am "running" (I use the quotes because I just do not feel right calling what I am doing running.) every other day on the program not only does it give my body time to recover it also lets me think through my experiences and figure out how I am making this a life change not just a short-term experiment. I am thinking that I may always have my gear in my car that way I can easily adjust as I need to and take advantage of last minute opportunities to get in some exercise. I really prefer to "run" outside and on a track. As the sunlight begins to diminish I will need to be able to change after work and stop on my way home to exercise. Seems like once I am home I want to stay there. The exception is Zumba, I will leave my house for Zumba! "Running" not so much - YET.
