Heat/cool packs

Sunday, August 09, 2015

Recently I finished the blouse that I was working on for myself, and decided that I wanted to sew something that is not so exacting . Since I have quite a bit of smaller pieces of fabric, I decided to make some heat/cool packs with rice in them. I also decided that it would be nice to make covers for some of them. I am trying out different sizes because depending upon where it is being used, size makes a difference. I figure as I make some, I will put them up for sale. I like that they do not get so cold that I have to worry about putting it next to my skin, and I can use one while going to sleep with no worries about harming my skin or fluid leakage.
Here is a picture of my current squares started as well as two of the fabrics I used to make covers, the butterfly and the black/white/gray spotted one.

It is a great break from my clothes sewing while still working on my technique and abilities. In time I will work on learning to sew with knits and stretch fabrics.
Little by little I am working on the things I particularly enjoy doing at home, cooking, gardening, and sewing, as a way to relieve stress and leave work at work. Hopefully soon I am out of there and able to help people with my health coaching privately so that I know I am doing something I enjoy for work and truly helping people at the same time.
