This is something I've been wondering about - have any of you had this experience?
When I was a kid, I thought I could fly. Not that I was dreaming I could fly, but that I actually WAS flying. I thought I had this amazing secret power.
Once everyone was asleep - I wouldn't go to sleep until everyone in the house was in bed and quiet - I would finally close my eyes and relax, lift up off my bed and float out the window, and then fly over all the landscape. It was a beautiful, peaceful, comforting feeling of freedom.
I think I must have been about fourteen (yes, FOURTEEN years old!) when these nightly excursions began to fade, and I realized they must have been dreams all along. At the time, however, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I was actually physically flying.
As an adult, I read about research that many children who are or have been sexually abused have flying dreams. Anyone else...?

Yes, I did this too. I could actually feel my body raise into the air. I believed that if I focused hard enough that I could fly. Boy am I glad that I never tried jumping out of a 2 story window. LOL. I was however always jumping out of trees or off ledges and was disappointed that I couldn't fly because at night I felt my body levitating. Looking back on it now It was probably just that light feeling you get when you're drifting off to dreamland.
