August Goals & In Memory of Mom

Saturday, August 08, 2015

It is a bit late to be posting these, but the goals were formed before August started . . .

August Goals (seeking to make at least one goal each for spirit, soul and body):

August goal 1--Write down the verses that God uses to move me forward in the journey to renewing my mind. Write relevant ones on cards, post it notes, or electronic notes and post in strategic places as reminders.

August goal 2--Every day, write down at least one healthy choice I made that day.

August goal 3--Track my food on Spark People every Monday--the good, the bad and the ugly. Monday is my choice because (1) I work from home and have more time; and (2) I work from home and find keeping my hands out of snacks more challenging on those days.

August goal 4--Take a walk, even if just 10 minutes, at least once per week.

In addition, I want to continue to weigh myself once a week, drink my 8 cups of water daily and do another 3 day sugar fast. The sugar fast really helps me to keep my focus as much as anything I have tried, I believe.

I feel like right now, one of my big struggles is to have the DESIRE to renew my mind. I can know in my head what I need to do, but I need to make a decision to do it. I'm finding that a challenge.

Today is 5 years that my mother died. Seems like just yesterday. Seems like a lifetime ago. Both true statements.

In her memory:

"You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now
In Christ, there are no goodbyes
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again" ~Excerpts from the song "Homesick" by MercyMe

    Love that song. And MercyMe.

I thought it was the 8th but wasn't sure. Now I think I'll remember.

The timing IS strange, isn't it? Because we are people living in a linear time format. But time is not linear, and eternal things of the heart are not linear. I do look forward to later when these things will not be so. I think what science calls "quantum entanglements" are, at least in part, eternal matters of the heart that do not conform to linear time. Which science grapples with explaining. I know the Master of Time, so the mystery is not strange to me.

You are a better woman than I am, re, tracking. Just not gonna happen. I definitely cheer you on, tho!

I am going to walk 45 mins a day, 5 days a week. Have heard this advice over and over. It is something I can do, even if I have to work up to it incrementally. Once I get up to the 45, then I'll strive to cut down my time by going faster, and then I'll add in other goals like ST for walkers, intervals, wogging, and so on.

I'm still working on doing hunger & full.

Very sensible goals that will net results. I am beginning to get a handle on tracking what I eat and avoiding sugar, and that is making a difference. I am inspired to add your goal about keeping track of at least one healthy choice made each day. I think that we need to remind ourselves that we are indeed making progress. Very nice tribute to your mother. She must have been a very special lady.

Beautiful Song. My mother went to Heaven on August 27, 2014. I can't believe she's been gone for almost a year now. Kisses to Heaven! I miss her daily.

I love your goals. I hope you put your heart and soul into them. You deserve this.
