This week's numbers

Tuesday, August 04, 2015

My CBC ( blood count) results from yesterday were mixed.

White blood count: 1.47, down from 1.58; not too much of a drop so I'm not worried about that at the moment.

Hemoglobin: After the blood transfusion I had on July 15th, it was 11.8 July 20, 10 on July 27, which was just last week, and yesterday, down to 9.4; if it keeps going at that rate, I'll probably need a transfusion next week. I was doing so good with going longer in between transfusions before I had started the Ibrance. I think that even though I stopped the Ibrance on July 13th, it's still affecting my blood. With the mets in my liver, I think it's taking longer to be filtered out of my body.

Platelets: These are actually GOOD this week! They were 65 last week, yesterday, TRIPLE DIGITS! 132! I would call that a great improvement, considering about 3 weeks ago, before my platelet transfusion, they were down to 10.

I had an appointment with my internist this morning; we talked about my decision to stop the Ibrance, and my recent lab work. He is concerned that the hemoglobin may drop even more before my usual CBC next Monday, so he wants me to get a CBC this Thursday also; that way, if the hemoglobin drops low enough requiring a transfusion, I can have it done on Friday and not have to feel so crappy with being too anemic over the weekend.

I slept better last night, and I'm slightly less tired today, but my energy level is still on the low end of what is normal for me. Thankfully, tomorrow there is nothing on my schedule so I can just stay home, and I can also sleep in a little bit if I want too. I did manage to get a chair workout in today though!

    Dear Shari,
I'm glad you had some good news with this blood test regarding your platelets....what an amazing difference! I'm sorry about the haemoglobin though. It sounds like your internist is wise in ordering an earlier CBC in case you need another transfusion. You poor love, you probably feel like a pin cushion at times! I know there isn't anything else for it but to have the tests and transfusions when needed - I think it is brave of you to keep soldiering on through it all with your positivity. You are truly awesome, my dear friend...even more so for getting a workout in despite the fatigue.
    Love, hugs and blessings,
    Nattacia

Yes, I think it is going to take a little while longer for Ibrance to get fully out of your body and stop affecting it. Great platelet numbers though.

I agree, a mixed bag of numbers. You seem to have a plan for each number reading and you continue to remain positive. You are an emoticon , emoticon special lady and friend. emoticon

Boy! A mixed bag of numbers is putting it mildly, but with your extremely positive attitude, Shari, you will enjoy the up tick in some. Like the lady said, relax tomorrow...."watch some junk TV and read" I'm thinking of you too and sending a ton of hugs your way.......((())) emoticon
