Well, it is wonderful to have considerate and helpful neighbors. yes, I have those and I am very thankful for them but sometiems they are just too considerate. ''How could that be'', you ask? ''No one can be too considerate'', you say. Let me explain.
A few weeks ago we had a storm that had a bit of wind with it. The wind blew a dead limb off my pine tree. so? Well, that dead limb was stuck on another limb and dangling. dangerous? Maybe, but probably not since it was going to take another storm with a stronger wind or someone deliberately trying to get it down for it to fall. ''Why didn't I try to get it down'', you wonder?
The limb was about 30 feet off the ground. My ladder is no where near that tall and besides it is a big limb and I wasn't going to risk falling while trying to get the limb down.
Now the cavalry showed up at my front door, well actually the man next door. He had tied a long strip of cloth (yes more than 30 feet of cloth) around a wrench, thrown it over the limb, and pulled it to the ground. Can we all clap for Charlie, my neighbor? Can we give him a high fiv?
Yes, my nighbor thought of a safe and quick way of getting the limb to the ground but now I am left to saw it and the other 12 foot limb with branches in order to put them out for the city.
I wouldn't mind except for the extreme heat and humidity. It was very thoughtful of my neighbor to take care of what he saw as a dangerous situation. Thanks, Charlie. from your friend, Paula Bunyon!
Now I need to go find Babe, my blue ox!
