Last week I was at a thrift store and bought a book on nutrition: "60 Seconds to Slim: Balance Your Body Chemistry to Burn Fat Fast" by Michelle Schoffro Cook, PhD, ROHP
I recognized the author's name when I saw it; she had been on my radar screen for several years now and now I had my chance to get her book. She advocates choosing an alkaline diet over an acid diet.
I've always steered away from diets that tried to tell me to eat very little meat. All my life I've loved protein from meat! Mainly chicken and hamburger patties or beef tips. My mantra USED to be: Point me to the main course (meat)... Forget all those side dishes!!!
Well... let's just say I'm finally coming to the conclusion that I MUST find something new. What I've been doing is NOT working!
Happily, after four solid days of being 99% compliant, I've lost 3.8 lbs. I know it's not fat weight. I've long suspected that my food choices have caused my body to have an inflammatory response; which causes extra water weight gain. So that loss is probably mostly that. But it sure feels TERRIFIC to see a loss on the scale!
Tonight's recipe was REALLY delicious! (Although I had to do more prepping than I'm used to doing.) My husband said: "Make this AGAIN!!!"

In a nutshell, the diet says to eat 70% of your day's food from alkaline choices, and no more than 30% from acidic choices---but make sure those acidic choices are WISE, nutritional choices!
She also says that when a body ingests mainly acidic foods, the acid MUST be moved out of the bloodstream pronto---because it's so deadly (detrimental) to the body. The body uses its internal wisdom and moves it to a place where it causes the least harm: your body's fat cells. Then those fat cells balloon out; plus they keep the fat in.
Sorry... I'm really tired and probably didn't say it all that clearly. But when I'm reading her words in the book it appears to make perfect sense to me!
