"Balance Your Body Chemistry to Burn Fat Fast!"

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Last week I was at a thrift store and bought a book on nutrition: "60 Seconds to Slim: Balance Your Body Chemistry to Burn Fat Fast" by Michelle Schoffro Cook, PhD, ROHP

I recognized the author's name when I saw it; she had been on my radar screen for several years now and now I had my chance to get her book. She advocates choosing an alkaline diet over an acid diet.

I've always steered away from diets that tried to tell me to eat very little meat. All my life I've loved protein from meat! Mainly chicken and hamburger patties or beef tips. My mantra USED to be: Point me to the main course (meat)... Forget all those side dishes!!!

Well... let's just say I'm finally coming to the conclusion that I MUST find something new. What I've been doing is NOT working!

Happily, after four solid days of being 99% compliant, I've lost 3.8 lbs. I know it's not fat weight. I've long suspected that my food choices have caused my body to have an inflammatory response; which causes extra water weight gain. So that loss is probably mostly that. But it sure feels TERRIFIC to see a loss on the scale!

Tonight's recipe was REALLY delicious! (Although I had to do more prepping than I'm used to doing.) My husband said: "Make this AGAIN!!!"

Okay, so here's the link if anyone is interested: I couldn't get it to go directly to the recipe. But once you click on the link, you will then see highlighted in yellow "Protein-packed Burrito Bowl for One." Directly underneath that in blue numbers is a clickable link. It says pg 283. Click on the blue 283.

= = = The link doesn't appear to be working for folks... (although it keeps working for me???) Anyway, here's the workaround:

= = = To find the book online yourself, type in "Google books" + "60 Seconds to Slim". The recipe I made is on page 283. Protein-packed Burrito Bowl for One.

In a nutshell, the diet says to eat 70% of your day's food from alkaline choices, and no more than 30% from acidic choices---but make sure those acidic choices are WISE, nutritional choices!

She also says that when a body ingests mainly acidic foods, the acid MUST be moved out of the bloodstream pronto---because it's so deadly (detrimental) to the body. The body uses its internal wisdom and moves it to a place where it causes the least harm: your body's fat cells. Then those fat cells balloon out; plus they keep the fat in.

Sorry... I'm really tired and probably didn't say it all that clearly. But when I'm reading her words in the book it appears to make perfect sense to me!

Okay on that note, I'm going to bed!

Those of you on Pinterest, there are gobs of similar recipes if you use the search "protein packed burrito bowls for one" - some are vegetarian options and others will use chicken or beef etc.

hope that helps - especially since I'm not too keen on going to Chipotle until they get their e Coli prevention practices nailed down...

    Hi Susie -

Cool looking recipe... I noticed a place up at the top to click - looks like a retarded pair of sunglasses, but it's actually Google's manifestation of a chain link segment, representing "web link" (it's a stretch, but I dunno, not sure I would want to "inhale the air" if I was ever on their campus....)...and it generates this link:

However - I don't know if that will that work for others? Could be that Google generates one for every person, so they can tell who has "shared" it the most often, etc... (especially if it leads to book sales, of course!?). It lands specifically on that page, when I opened it up as a new tab. It's copyrighted, so Google won't let you copy and paste the specific recipe...but ... there's nothing to keep you from doing a screen shot and then pasting that into Paint or some other graphics processor, maybe even as a graphic inside of a Word document... And of course, you have to go back through the book to page 255 to get the Super Fat-Burning Salsa or whatever it was..

    just sayin' ...

In general I do better with the more alkaline meals, as a way to balance. Can't stand to be on it all the time - after all, balance is what we're going for?? But I've even experimented with making an alkaline water just for the "quick fix" and that seems to help too!!

Hope it is still working for you!!

Sorry - the link didn't work for me either! I will search as I'm always interested. I have been low carb for so long but I just read Jorge Cruise's The 100 book and he advocates counting sugar grams instead of carbs, calories or fat. It makes perfect sense and I lost weight the first week but I'm not sure I can stick with it. We are all so different. I'm not sure what works for me is good for another but I hope this is the answer for you.

The link didn't work for me, sorry. I may have to look for it another way as it does sound interesting. This could be why I have been on a plateau for so very long up until this current challenge. And I am still eating meats which is my food as well.
