So I decided to do something radical. I entered in two (2) half-marathons. One for the ASPCA and one for Alzheimer's.
Both are causes near to me as I'm an avid animal lover and protector. I've tried to save every stray I've ever seen. But more importantly, the act of animal cruelty or neglect makes me sick. I'm not on a moral high ground or lecturing or trying to make anyone feel badly. It's just how I feel. Animals cannot help themselves, it's up to us to help them, care for them, be kind to them and to stop people from doing horrific things to them. I just read an article about a supposed shelter. The man was adopting every animal he could find only to be the one hurting them.
I'm not adopting animals, I'm raising money for the October 2015 Rock 'n Roll Los Angeles. I'm walking to help raise money so the ASPCA can help animals on a larger scale than I'm able too.
On October 25, 2015 I will be running in the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles® Half Marathon as a participant of Team ASPCA®*, a national fundraising and endurance training program. I am excited to be participating with Team ASPCA and honored to be raising the awareness and the much needed funding to support the ASPCA's programs.
My personal fundraising goal is $2000.00 and you can help me cross the finish line by making a donation to the ASPCA. One hundred percent of your donation will go to the ASPCA, and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed under applicable law. Today, you can make a difference by:
• Donating online at https://aspca.org/team/animals
-need-love-too, or
• Writing a check, made payable to the ASPCA and mail to Team ASPCA, 520 8th Avenue, 7th Floor New York, New York 10018 (Please make sure to include my name in the memo line of the check).
Your donation will help the ASPCA, among other things, continue to provide local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pets and pet parents, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals and serving victims of animal cruelty. The ASPCA is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight end animal cruelty, homelessness and neglect.
Thank you in advance for your support of the ASPCA and my efforts to complete the 2015 Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon.
If you're able to donate, please do so. The money isn't for me it's for the ASPCA. I just ask for donations to reference my link to help me reach the fundraising goal I've set.
My other cause is for Alzheimer's. My grandmother had this terrible disease. And most recently, Glen Campbell announced he had the disease as well. In a documentary we watched about him, they show the progression of the disease. While it may seem as though he's fine and functioning, the sad reality is that it steals your mind. He would forget who his children were. I remember my grandmother forgetting me and in fact being so terrified of me she screamed. Heartbreaking.

I've chosen to walk in two events that are two weeks apart to raise money and awareness. the added bonus for me is that I have to commit to fitness and get endurance going by October. While these are only 1/2 marathons--I must complete them and I must do so without being the last person walking.
