Dealing with stress

The one choice to remember when you are stressed is to be happy no matter what your circumstances. Practice being grateful. Even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances, spend at least 15 seconds of every hour to be grateful for those things that have brought you happiness in the past and remember those moments of your happiness. Also be grateful for even for the current moment for you are alive and have what it takes to withstand the difficulty. Know and expect that things will work out for the best. If things are looking very bad, your default thinking might be - " I don't know how I can get through this, but I will and I will gain strength from it!" Don't worry about how long it will be before things get better of if you have time to work things out. Focus on the moment, remembering to spend at least 15 seconds to be grateful and happy, and carry on as best as you can. Then when you have the time, draw upon the support of a few of your trusted friends. Be diligent, positive and know that you can work things out.
The person who taught me this also says that you should keep a list of the things that you are grateful for. You can include those moments in your life where you were the happiest even if those moments did not last because it is within your power to be just as happy in the future, only under different, even more stressful circumstances. Modify your list as necessary. At times of stress or whenever there is a need, take a break of 15 or more minutes to focus on your list of things to be grateful for to clear your mind of stress.
