Long time no ....

First, thank you to any friends who still check on my blog/SparkPage from time to time -- I very much appreciate it! Second, I had no idea how long it's been since I posted here.

Seeing my May 2012 anthropometric data is somewhat staggering. That was only three years ago and I gained 40 lbs since then. I'm down a few of those pounds, but I have a lot more to go. A lot more.

So what's brought me back, you might be wondering? Well, I got some good news/bad news last week. The good news is that most of a case S and I have been working on for a few years was dismissed. The bad news is that 2 claims remain and will likely be going to trial over the winter. Why is this relevant here?

I need to fit in my suits again for trial!

Unlike the case that could be going to trial in October -- which will likely settle -- this one is much more likely to actually go to trial. This is a real situation, real deadline, for me to at least lose the 20 lbs I've gained since I last wore these suits comfortably. 30 lbs would have me down to where I'd actually look good in the suits. If I lose more than 50 lbs the suits won't look good in the other direction, which is sort-of good: I have a reasonable range in which to lose. There's no reason I can't lose 20-30 lbs in 6 months.

Now to create a plan!

Maybe I'm being Pollyannaish here, but I want to create a plan to do this. Who knows, maybe I can actually keep to it! I may actually post updates to S since he has, essentially, the same goal.

One of my recent challenges is eating enough protein during the day. That's a weird problem for me to have, since in the past I've eaten what might be considered too much protein every day. Part of that is because I haven't been having eggs for breakfast -- hopefully changing that will be enough to cause a chain reaction over the course of the day. I'm not even craving protein very much -- no wonder older adults lose muscle so easily! Well, more on that another day.

For today, it's time to move forward one step at a time.
