First goal met!

Super excited to be able to say I've lost 12 pounds since rejoining spark. This was the first (incremental) goal I set myself... and also the largest of the series. Next up: Losing 9 more pounds by mid-September.
Best of all? I did it over July 4th weekend! It required some planning and a little willpower (more planning than willpower, I am happy to report). I had the luxury of being able to fit in a LOT of physical activity, which offset the fact that I ate at the top end of my calorie range a couple days. (On the 4th I went over - but only by about 250 calories.) I drank a river of water and crystal lite iced tea.
I figured I would come close to hitting my goal this weigh in (Mondays are my weigh in day)... but was REALLY excited to meet it.
I'm feeling like I'm just hitting my stride, in many ways. I'm figuring out the right balance, and moderation is working for me. Eating REAL food (and plenty of protein and fat) is keeping me pretty happy and craving-free. And when I do have a craving? I usually honor it. Last week I REALLY wanted some good bread, and I had it. Several times, just in smaller portions than I might have in the past. I've had a couple of good hamburgers from Culver's, too. No fries, soda or frozen custard... but a big, delicious burger (especially on a day when we were doing a ton of outdoor work) really hit the spot.
I have a reverse root canal this Thursday, which is making me nervous. It will most certainly interfere with my preferred exercise schedule and activity. I'm just hoping it heals fast and I'm up and about quickly. (And eating normal quickly.) It's going to be a challenging week, but I'm doing my best to prep for it.
