It has been a goal of mine to update my sparkpage with a new blog entry every week. This week I decided not to because we have been on vacation. We did not leave home for our vacation this year, as we have lived here for a short time and have not really experienced our new home very much.

Of course the fact that I had recently climbed back on the healthy wagon seemed to be at cross purposes with a vacation, but we planned more active fun than any vacation I've ever had. We had a great time fishing at a local lake and watching sail boats!!! Jon even caught a fish. We also visited a few museums and historic places, lots of walking, but fun. We also went to an archery range and spent the day pretending to be Robin Hood. We also went to a minor league baseball game. Score for trying new things!

Some of our plans did not work out. We planned to go to the driving range, and it rained on us. We also intended to go to the movies to see the latest Avengers movie, but those plans changed too.

A few unplanned circumstances conspired to help as well. I became kind of obsessed with the SP app for recording food, and recorded every bite for the first several days. I slacked off the last few because Jon began complaining that I spent too much time with my phone, but I did continue to measure and think about calories. I received a coupon in my email for my favorite frozen yogurt, and when we started to want to eat treats, I suggested that treat which is weighed by them and greatly enjoyed by us. Also, I can get gluten free, no sugar added fro yo with nuts and fruits as toppings. Who says healthy food makes you sad??!

We did enjoy a few local restaurants, a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a museum restaurant, and a fabulous Mediterranean restaurant with live belly dancers. I managed to avoid knowingly eating gluten at any restaurant!!! Last night, we had pizza and I enjoyed a gluten free pizza from Pizza Hut. (It was truly a treat. A little too expensive considering the size for regular occurrences.)

On a more emotional note, Jon said he is proud of me for sticking with this. I was so pleased. I did not really restart my fitness journey because of any comments from him regarding my size or appearance. Truthfully, I don't think he objects to my weight or looks. He did however tell me that my constant talking about healthfulness contrasted with my continuing to eat things I say are unhealthy is weird, and I need to give up one thing or the other.

I thought about what he said, and I agreed that I was not living up to my own expectations or living intentionally. I am really pleased that I have been able to reassess and adjust my life to be more in line with my own beliefs. So, Jon is proud of me, but more importantly, I am proud of me too.

Bottom line, I did not have to give up relaxation, fun, or eating out to have a healthy, happy vacation. (And I also managed to lose 2 lbs this week!)
