A Slip Up

Today, Jon called and asked me to lunch. This was an unusual occasion, as we rarely dine out unless it is date night. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings, and I was pretty excited because I had only ever been there once, and I am awesome at trivia.

Unfortunately, I am not nearly so good at prethinking my eating. After the meal I dutifully entered my intake into the SparkPeople Android App. Lo and behold, I had eaten nearly an entire days worth of calories in one meal.

This would not be nearly so bad if I had not eaten yet today, but of course I had. Needless to say, I will not be having dinner tonight, but I am disappointed in myself.

I'm not sure it is sensible to be disappointed, because I did enter everything and although I didn't check before eating, I didn't eat anything their website says has wheat or gluten. I think I am going to decide to be proud of myself for not entering into a state of denial, instead of mentally punishing myself for backsliding on my restaurant policy.

If y'all have any advice on how to avoid happy eating/restaurant foibles in the future, I'd be glad to hear it!

    Order grilled anything….Salmon, chicken, beef. Order salads with dressing on the side. Stay away from anything with sauce. You can do it! Oh yea, steam veggies if the restaurant will do that for you is a treat too.

    When you are learning new skills sometimes focusing on one thing at a time helps so in a sense you did that with the gluten stuff and the next step will be pre-knowing the cals too! So I think it's a win/live and learn. Eat something light tonight.

    Of course if you know where you are going in advanced you can check the calories beforehand. Some people eat a small amount before going out so they won't be tempted to over eat. Some just learn from the experience and move on. Good luck😄

    It's amazing how fast calories add up when you're eating out. I usually look up nutrition info online before I go.

    Everything you feel is valid. I'm really glad you decided to feel proud of yourself. It's so awesome that you tracked everything and didn't punish yourself! Way to go!
