Whew...busy few weeks

Thursday, June 04, 2015

Well it's been a busy few weeks since I last posted.

My son is home from college. I'm thrilled to have him here but it is an adjustment on both our parts.

I finished my first trimester of classes and received an A in both classes. :D Pretty pumped about that! The first classes ended on Sunday May 31st and the new classes started Monday June 1st.

And on Saturday May 30th my grandfather passed away. He was 95 years old, in poor health and had outlived 4 of his siblings, his wife and his daughter. I'm relieved for him in that he not unhappy any more and is reunited with them but it did hurt. Mostly because I miss the grandpa I grew up with and because he was one of the last ties I had to my mom. So my week has been crazy.

Went to work Monday as I had to do payroll or I would have a revolt on my hands :). Let work at 1pm, left town at 1:15 and drove from central kansas to new mexico. Stayed the night there and then got up Tuesday morning and drove to Phoenix Arizona. Went to the funeral home to sign papers, finalize the service, etc. Then went to his former caregivers house to pick up the last of his personal effects. Thankfully my son and I were able to get to bed early that night as we were both exhausted. Up early the next morning for the viewing and the memorial service. As soon as that was over with we changed clothes and drove from Phoenix to New Mexico, stopping at the same place as before. This morning, Thursday, we were up early and drove from New Mexico back home. I'm exhausted! Physically and mentally and emotionally. Spending over 40 hours in a car in 4 days is a bit much. However I, in no way, regret going. He deserved the respect and our time.

I'm very thankful my son was able to go with me. He drove the entire trip. While it was heart wrenching to see how grown up he is, doing the driving, handling large city traffic such as Phoenix, etc, it was also nice to see how grown up he is and how well he did at driving, opening doors, the way he treated other people and the way he handled the entire situation. Made me proud! And made me feel so much better about him being an adult. Not sure that makes sense but hopefully someone understands what I mean. lol

Tomorrow it's back to work, Friday evening a family get together, Saturday work my part time job and I haven't even started any homework for this week. I'm not complaining. Just busier than I have been in quite awhile.

I did really good with my workouts last week and through the weekend. Sunday was my last workout though for this week. But my goal is to be back at it tomorrow.

My intent was to go back to counting calories but I just couldn't handle that on top of the trip and everything else. Did I mention I get car sick too?! ugg!! TG for Dramamine! So will start counting calories tomorrow.

And I thought I had more I wanted to jot down but even though it's about an hour earlier than my normal bed time I'm exhausted so I'm signing off.

Thanks for reading and for the support. :)
