IN MY NEXT LIFE -
Saturday, May 30, 2015
If I have any say (: ) in my next life, I know what I want to be. I’ve done a lot of things in my 80 years. I graduated high school in 1952 and there were just so many (so few?) professions open to young women. I have been an office worker, a long distance telephone operator, a medical receptionist, a securities researcher and reporter in a major insurance company, a secretary to a college administrator. I trained – or actually, they trained me, two Morgan horses, showed one and was a barn worker/groom. I had a shelter for stray and rescued cats for years. In the end I was a Latin teacher for over 20 years.
And yet – retired from all of the above now, I have the time to indulge myself in the field of cooking and nutrition. I’d rather read a cookbook than a novel and my favorite TV shows and websites deal with foods and their preparations. I have learned so much and although I’m not able to do much actual cooking, I am delighted to learn so much. Sometimes I see stuff that makes me shudder – the last Chopped Show when the contestants had all kind of animal parts – like the pig’s head – to cook . Then I am glad I’m not the judge who has to taste these strange (to me) dishes.
So – in my next life I would start in a cooking profession – even dishwashing , on my way up the professional chain. I wouldn’t need to be famous or make a lot of money – it would be enough to earn my living doing something I loved and feeding happy people.
Now. It’s your turn – what would you want to do in a “second life”? Comments, please!
