Internmit service for Mom, more help from Penny
Friday, May 29, 2015
Most of you who read my blogs know that my mom passed away in November of last year. We were not able to have the burial of her ashes at the time of the funeral, because of the weather. We had that done yesterday morning; it was just a short, simple service but the pastor did a beautiful job. It was more "bittersweet" than somber, just the way my mom would have liked it. We had perfect weather for it too; sunny and warm, but not too warm. Along with my sister and I, Penny was there, and also 7 of my cousins (my mom was actually an aunt to most of those cousins.)
While I was there, I also noticed someone had already been up there to plant flowers on the grave, I don't know who it was, but I think it was one of my other friends who wasn't able to be there yesterday. I think it was the same friend who has put flowers up there before (the gravestone is for both my parents) because she knew that neither my mom nor I had the physical ability to do it.
Penny was over here again this morning, to finish up painting the shed. She also cleaned it out for me and organized it, so I can easily get to what I need in there. She also surprised me with some more new plants; I had one area near my front steps where I had a few perennials die out, so I had a bare spot there. She bought me a "Raspberry Bomb" coneflower, which is a perennial, and planted it for me. She also got a couple of pink and white annuals to go with it (torenias I think they are?)
Here is my shed, freshly painted:
Here are my new plants that Penny planted this morning; when the coneflower blooms, it will have bright pink flowers.
I think I overdid it with all the standing and walking over the past 3 days; hip and knee were really hurting last night, and still hurting a lot today. Trying to stay off my feet today, and hoping I won't be hurting too much tomorrow since Saturdays are when I do my laundry.
