New workouts at my disposal - yay for variety!

Hello Sparkies!

Have you heard of the 21 Day Fix? In a nutshell it's a set of 7 workouts on DVD along with color-coded containers for portion control, and an eating plan to follow. I am typically not one for gimmicky weight-loss programs but I know a few people who have done this program with pretty good results. My husband, who also wants to lose a few pounds, was interested too so we went ahead and ordered it. Our package came on Friday. We have yet to start the actual work but we have spent the weekend reading through everything and grocery shopping in preparation.

We have been doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred, but these new workouts will give us some more variety, which I am looking forward to. On the other hand, right now I am not so sure about the containers and eating plan. At first glance, it seems kind of confusing. I think what I will do is follow the workout plan and track my calories here, using the containers as my guide for portions. We will see how it all works out!

When I first started the Jillian DVDs, I would do them in the afternoon while my son naps. Since my husband has wanted to join in, we have been waking up at 5 a.m. The workouts being only 20 minutes were totally doable in terms of also having time to shower and get ready for the day. Although it isn't fun losing an hour of sleep, when my son's naptime comes around I am grateful that I have already completed my workout and therefore can allot my time to other things that need to get done.

On a related note, I follow Coach Nicole on Facebook and she recently shared something that spoke directly to me as a mom and "aspiring exerciser." This is not something she wrote, but rather shared on her FB page. It describes my situation exactly and is likely how I ended up now trying to shake off 40 pounds! Maybe some of you can relate, too?

    I've heard good things about the 21 day fix but have not done it. You know I've done the 30 day shred....just not for 30 straight days ;-) My husband runs with me on Sunday morning and sometimes on Friday evening. I think we all have trouble fitting it all in whether we have kids or not (I don't have human children but do have kitties).
