For some reason I don't want to do a blog post..but here goes..

I am discovering alot about me lately..I can't make conventional desserts without eating them..no self control. So what do I do?? I need to stop making them so often. It sounds simple..but baking has always been my life. I bake to make others happy. I bake to get attention . I bake because I'm addicted to sugar.I bake because I have a habit. With those why's shared..the real challenge is to stop the habit...and replace that habit with something that will make others and myself satisfied..Sewing , gardening, genealogy..all good activities . Now to work on incorporating them more into my life and not totally turning my back on baking..but limiting it.
Today I am going to focus on one or two alternatives . Wish me success.

    I understand since I have done the same at times. Now, I try to make a low cal dessert to take to events and then just have a small amount when there. I do not bring any home with me.
    How about making a veggie tray to take to a party? I think most people love this.
    Just an idea. Good luck. You can do it.

    Hey there...I'm exactly the same. It's wonderful that you recognize the tendencies in yourself...that's step one. I know, I tried to have "just a little" for many many many years...and it doesn't work for me. I regained just to have to relose and regained just to have to relose again...over and over and over again!

    I liken this to being addicted to cigarette smoking (which I was but I DID quit). So, would I choose to have ONE cigarette now??? or just ONE puff now??? NO WAY!!! OF COURSE NOT.

    So really, once we acknowledge our addiction, we can move on from it and truly, truly, I do enjoy foods now that I am NOT addicted to. Like fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, home made hummus, home made cole slaw....the list goes on. But none of these are crazy sweet and none set up a craving in me for MORE...MORE...MORE!! Like I eat chocolate...but only dark chocolate. I'm happy with one piece of dark chocolate, whereas I could never be happy with one piece of milk chocolate. I make my own healthy chocolate treats with dark chocolate and toasted nuts or sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. See, I love to cook too but I'm so tired of re-gaining so I was ready to change.

    emoticon I try to make healthier desserts and when I do make them, give most away so the temptation is gone.

    You have the emoticon idea right there in your blog! How about all those things you mentioned....sewing, gardening, genealogy AND other activities...and MAKE them for the people you want attention from and all the other things??? Wish I was closer, you could make ME something and I would CHERISH IT!
