A new lifestyle

We had the typical weekend...soccer game, Girl Scouts, cleaning and shopping. As I tried to wrangle the kids into bed last night, I realized I never had time to get any fitness in, and it was bothering me. Now, I did run around with the kids, playing chase with my daughter and dancing with them both. But I never took any time to focus on some fitness by myself. What did I do? Put on my yoga pants and headed straight into the living room for a little yoga before bed. It was awesome! Since I didn't sleep well the night before, doing some yoga just before bed was just what the doctor ordered to get a good night's rest.
The best part? I was able to push myself further in my poses. I can actually see and feel the muscles in my legs and arms. I've decided to look into some classes. I'd love to get in a studio with an instructor again, to help push me further and learn some new poses.
I do have to admit that I still have bouts of being unhappy with my progress. I feel SO great, and I know my body is changing. I just have moments of wanting it to change faster. I know, I know...in due time. It took years to get this way and will take time to get to where I want. I guess I kind of feel like the real me is being hidden and I want everyone to see it, not just me. I went to visit my daughter's class last week as the mystery reader and her teacher snapped a couple of pics of me with her. I was a little disappointed with the pics. It's so hard to not be self critical about photographs of myself, it's something I really need to work on.
But overall, I'm happy with my results and I'm really proud of myself. I've made some amazing changes to my body and my mind this year.
So that's my story, and I'm stick'n to it. Now after a morning of meetings, it's off to the gym to clear my head and get into gear for the afternoon.
