Spark is a completely changed lifestyle--
I don't drink pop---
I eat burgers without a roll--
I exercise--move more---
I try to count calories----

I am sad still however after losing my friend Coal---
Degenerative Myelopathy--his hind end lost muscle---
We had to put him down--
Himself is afraid of that happening to him I think-=-as he walked with me this morning--He hasn't walked with me in years--

We are waiting for this new pup to arrive--They say next weekend---
Meanwhile a breeder has approached us, asking if we might give our home , to a shepherd she feels needs a special place to reside-
--seems my convalescent nursing skills are becoming well known in the area--
Lord love a Duck!
We talked about this older dog--but have decided to stick to our guns and wait for the puppy--only a week--
Life can be tough----but--if we try to remain healthy----life IS easier!

Coal in his better years!

Coal is waiting for you, snoozing away peacefully, occasionally wagging his tail as he dreams of good times: no question!

We figure (and it's true, even if it sounds a little vainglorious!) our dogs are so deeply loved that they could have had no better home . . . and it's marvellous that you are going to give another lucky lucky dog a loving home too.

And of course they love us right back, don't they?

Bless you for taking on a new puppy. I am not sure I would have the patience or the energy to train a puppy. Of course, I have also never owned a dog. How is Tess doing? Is she getting extra hugs and walks?

Sometimes our spark fades to a glowing ember, as we feel the ebb and flow of life. We will remember dear Coal.
And, look forward to the arrival of the new puppy ... name, details, and adventures to follow, I'm sure!
Glad your himself went walking with you.

emoticon So sorry for the loss of Coal he was a beautiful dog. But I am glad you are going forward with the new puppy. Can't wait to see a picture of him running circles around you while you walk. emoticon

I will always be sad for your loss of Coal &, at the same time, I will always be so grateful that he had your Himself & you for his people. It is easy to tell how much you love/loved your Coal & I know he felt it, too!

As for your Himself walking with you for the first time in a long time, I believe he did it to give you his company, while knowing that walking without Coal would be painful for you, Lynda.

Enjoy that new puppy when he gets to his forever home! Can't wait to hear the name y'all give to him.

    God bless!

Yesterday, when getting in the mail, a neighbor from down the street stopped to visit. Turns out there are three of us, living on the same block, each with small, female, 15-year-old dog that has deteriorated rapidly in the last year. We compared notes on conditions, meds, vet visits, etc., and then laughed when comparing the conditions of our carpets. Cataracts, hearing loss, and joint issues, along with digestive problems abound -- in our pets and ourselves!

emoticon as you grieve your loss -- let it out so you will be ready for The New Kid on The Block (couldn't resist the corny pun).

Glad HIMself bestirred himself to join you for a walk !!
Soon you will have a new "little" one to begin training to be a great walking partner.
Hope you have a great weekend..
Try NOT to feed those ravenous black flies !!
I have spent a week trying to stop the itch their bites left behind. I think I am getting close although the welts are still angry.

I'm so happy a puppy is on its way. Hard work though! I had to stop receiving dogs completely. Once people know you're a softy, everybody wants to give away their pets. We now have a total of 8 dogs (4 at home and 4 at the farm) and 6 cats (4 at home, 2 at the farm), well fed, well taken care of, very expensive, but we do it with love. Pricey love, so we stopped!

You are gonna make it. The best remedy to a lost baby (pup) is a new one....not to REPLACE, but to FILL part of th space that the other (Coal) left! Can't WAIT for pics of the new pup!

emoticon emoticon emoticon to both of you!

Awwwww ((((HUGS))))) to you and Himself. I am sue that Coal's passing just smacks the face with the though of mortality. That's nice Himself walked w/you.

I hope that you really have such wonderful times with your pending pup!

I think that was sweet that Himself walked with you. He knows how much you are missing Coal and wanted to keep you company. I think a new puppy will be good for you. Both Tess and the new puppy will help comfort you.

    Lots of hugs!!!

Rest easy and allow yourself to feel the sadness... sounds like Himself feels it, too. emoticon The puppy will be a joyful addition to the household but will not replace your Coal... he/she (did you tell us which?) will only expand your heart, not take his place!

Take care of yourself through all of this, because as you said, our lives depend on it!

It is so hard to put down a dog, but a relief also when they have been ill for awhile. It's the humane thing to do.

Very sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose our furry family members.

DH still can't bring himself to replace our Macki Girl. We may never get another dog and am in awe that you have one on the way. Maybe someday, DH will be OK with it but if not, I am OK.

    Hugs, Sunny
