Have you met the Sabotage Twins?

Friday, May 15, 2015

With everything in life, we always have those little voices that are telling us not to do what we know that we have too. And with weight loss sometimes those voices can be quite monsterous. So enter, the Sabotage Twins, the Crave Monster and the Laze Monster. I swear that I carry these two around with me wherever I go, I don't have the little angel and demon on my shoulders, I have my monsters.

Meet the Crave Monster, first on my sabotage twins, he wants nothing more than to devour all the sweets, grease, fatty unhealthy foods that you once gorged on. You've all heard him right? That little voice that whispers in your ear... "Doesn't that cupcake look good, you should have two." or "You know you want to go get take out, it's easier than cooking." even "This salad would be better with bacon and more ranch on it!" He is a sneaky little sh!t, constantly trying to derail you in little ways, fighting your good intentions of a healthy lifestyle.

Then comes his brother, the Laze Monster, whose sedentary lifestyle is all about sitting on the couch and sleeping his life away. Despite his lazy demeanor he also carries a loud voice, whispering away in your ear. "You had a long day at work, you are to tired to go to the gym." or "This is hard, you should give up." and even "You will never be fit, why even try?"

Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP! It's not like I am already doubting myself enough as it is, trying to live healthy, be active and eat right is hard enough as it is after a lifetime of doing all the wrong things. But now I have these two monsters on my shoulders trying to make it worse.

Despite all of that, and their negative energy, I kinda like having them around. Yeah, you read that right, I like having them around. They remind me of all the naysayers, all the people who told me that I couldn't do things, that I wasn't able to. And I mean come on, what feeling is better than knowing that you defeated a couple of monsters every day? I ate within my calories, Crave didn't win. I went for a walk, to the gym, did some Strength Training, Laze didn't win either.

So every day I fight this battle to a better, healthier me, but I am not only fighting myself, I am defeating monsters along the way.
