OK.
Here's the story.
I am having company this weekend from overseas. They are sleeping at my house and I have been cooking up a storm! I am thrilled to have them as I haven't seen them in some time and I am so happy to be returning the favor of them having hosted me on many occasions...
That being said - I made some amazing food... Like amazing.
My house smells SO good right now.
I want to enjoy myself and relax, but I don't want to make myself crazy with tracking every little taste I take of something. I would have to input every recipe (I tried four new recipes that look SO good) and then figure out how much my "taste" was....
I think it will just not be the relaxed and fun weekend I want.

That being said - I don't plan to go overboard... I will watch - I just don't want to track. Just until tomorrow night... 24 hours.
To show you just how much I want to be able to taste and still keep on track... I made deep dish chocolate chip cookies in ramekins. They are INSANE!!! Also almost 500 calories each!

So I took some batter aside and made some mini cupcakes just so I can taste without indulging in a whole one or having a "bite" of someone else's. I am PLANNING!
So... Any thoughts?

I do believe that your 'tasting' may go awry at some point during the weekend so go gently on the tasting. Cut your portions! Enjoy your weekend while staying on top of things.

I don't track when it's just too crazy to do so. That's when I engage my inner conscience and monitor my triggers. Sometimes I keep a small notebook in my purse on days I can't track and I write down what I've eaten and make my best guess how much. By the end of the day I can see what i have done and it avoids mindless eating.

I think you've already answered your questioned! You are planning to "taste" so you can enjoy and it is one weekend.... give yourself permission to go off the tracking grid and just have a good time with your friends. The best thing you've done is take control of what foods are actually in the house (better than eating out all the time) and making the mini versions of some things. Enjoy and then get back on the scale for the next weigh-in and accept whatever it says with joy.

enjoy yourself-nothing worse than a host fussing about dieting the whole visit-keep that on the back burner, but in your mind-mostly enjoy the short visit!!!!! LIVE!!!!!
