Frozen Juice aka I Love Aldi

Sunday, May 10, 2015

OK, 2nd round for making the juice. Thanks to Aldi who makes it possible with 99 cents Pineapples and celery. $2 Kale, 1.79 Spinach. Aldi allows me to continue with my juicing journey without going broke.

Ingredients list: 14 lbs Carrots, 8 Pineapples, 6 Beets, 1 lb Kale, 1/2 lb Spinach, 1 Celery, 4 young Coconuts, 2 Red Cabbage, 1 Red Onion, Limes and lemons.

Length of time: Shopping 3 stores: 3 hrs; Cleaning 1 hr; Set up, peel and cut: 1.5 hrs; Juicing 1.5 hrs; Bottling and cleaning up 1.5 hrs. The improvement I can make is the cleaning up time. I made a mess and had to spend more time cleaning. I can do better next time.

This time the yield increases to 22 bottles. This is great news as it means I can juice every 3 weeks instead of 2. I spent more time this round, but I get more juice and I can hold off longer until the next batch.

Do you freeze those? I couldn't tell for sure! :o)

Wow! I love batch cooking! I just bought one of those "salad" shooters. Kinda pricey (49.99) but I can shred 10 pounds of cheeses in less than 15 minutes. (For the week) Rather than hand grate 1 lb as needed!
Now I need to try frying eggs like yours! Altho I fear the price of eggs here is going to sky rocket with the Bird Flu. (MN)

As always- great blog post- beautiful pictures!
