Coming Around With a Little "Witchcraft"
Saturday, May 02, 2015
Quickie blog today, thanking you all for your support and to let you know today's ride was a good step in the right direction:
Perfect weather, great company, some old bike club friends I hadn't seen in a while and a little help from my internal "radio" which dialed up, of all songs, a nice laid-back solo guitar version of Witchcraft that had nothing to do with the hard pedaling up Honeypot Hill or the whooping descent down into the aptly named Speedville. It came to me after a while: the bike, the people, the perfect weather were all conspiring to cast a gentle spell leading me to a better frame of mind!
Apologies for the link to the version of this song which was running through my mind as it doesn't include the whole song. But enough to give you a sense of the incongruity between the inner music and the world surrounding me today:
A note on Honeypot Hill, an 8 mile unrelenting climb which I first did last September. I commented to others: this hill is a whole lot harder to climb in May than at the end of the season in September! Flexed some climbing chops today. Good thing! I'll need 'em tomorrow in Delaware Country 'round the Pepacton Reservoir! :-)
