The highly anticipated day has arrived. Not the royal birth; I joined the gym!

I do wish Will and Kate well. emoticon

Yes, Sparkers, I walked through the door yesterday, signed on the dotted line and got my swipe card, free water bottle and all kinds of appointments. Here is what I am doing so I can declare my accountability to all of you who have supported me.

This Wednesday I see a nurse.
Every 90 days I get to see the nurse to be weighed, measured, BMI'd and whatever else they do. What are the odds there will be no male nurse to flirt with?

Next Saturday I meet with my trainer. I have already met Mike and discussed what we will do. Apparently with all of my issues I should start in the pool. (shout out to FIFIFRIZZLE)

You guys don't know how broken this body is! I put up a good front. emoticon
The stupid hip with bursitis, the stupid toe with another itis, 7 herniated disks, both knees are shot, my now damaged shoulder has tendonitis and I've broken my back in 2 places, several ribs more than once. At one time I raised and raced horses, fixed and raced cars. I could swing a 10 pound sledgehammer but looked real good in a bikini! I think I abused myself. I digress...I used to be a tough cookie...still am!

Saturday the nutritionist gets a shot at me too.

I spoke with the counselor and we talked about family, whatnot and I mentioned she was the same age as my younger daughter. She assumed I was the same age as her mom.
Nice to see she was astounded I was 8 years OLDER than her mom!

Like Steve Siebold says: I'll be smokin' hot!
LOL

Sounds like you have a great plan. I hope it is just what you need. I can't afford the formal version but my M.D. kind of fills this roll. He told me I could walk and/or do water aerobics so I assume this is the standard routine for ladies in similar circumstances. I wasn't planning a 5k any way but it's nice to know the rules.

I am amazed, you finally did it!!!!
    WTG!
You'll love working in the water, it is a delicious feeling having completed a water workout. Your joints are stretched and relaxed and what a lovely feeling of fatigue...

Smokin' hot indeed!! Who you are is STILL THERE, just ready to be reclaimed and celebrated, and you're doing all the right things to honour that.

(Reading Julie Holland's terrific book, Moody Bitches . . . and can't help thinking you'd totally enjoy it too. Really increased my understanding of why I can be a moody bitch, and why that's a very good thing!!)

Yeah! You are taking care of the business of taking care of you! You are not only going to be smoking hot you are going to feel so strong! All the other difficult stuff in your life will seem much more manageable when you get this plan going.
Be careful though you have a lot of past injuries. Don't want to get derailed before you really get going! Good idea to start in the pool. But you are one tough cookie!

emoticon Sounds like a very comprehensive program and facility. Pool activities are the way to go for supporting those ol' joints. I was sent to aquatic PT (almost hot water) after hip surgery - it was wonderful (esp since it was later winter - boy did it feel good!)

    Yay for you!!

Not only smoking hot, but you are one strong, determined, mentally resilient lady! I predict that you will excel. You are DEFINITELY WORTH IT! You're quality people.

BTW, you would have loved our class speaker last night. He was a very fit young man when he had a massive heart attack, that he survived through due to his fitness level (it lasted over two days). But they could not figure out what specifically was wrong. Took until he was through med school, married, and with an anticipated child due in two months before they got a diagnosis... limb - girdle Muscular Dystrophy (can't remember the medical term).

His doctors told him he might last 6 years. The incipient pregnancy is now an 8 year old daughter. He looks plenty fit and does things appropriate to slow the progression of his disease. His wife is part of our marathon/half marathon training class.

His message was to keep the positive attitude. Value faith and family. Take each day as it comes. And never give up!

With stories like this around? I've got no excuses. Grateful for every single day that I CAN do ANYTHING!
