Naturally Imperfect

Saturday, May 02, 2015

We scream, hate, and become extremely mad at each other. We treat each other like enemies. We can be mortal and lethal with the things we say because nobody knows more about each other than us. We see the true colors that lie beneath our skin. All the dark little secrets and flaws that each one has. We know them! Sometimes it is the most amazing thing! We have each other and someone to hold us with all our imperfections. And someone that knows so much about us and love us so much and hurt us even more. But we hold on to one another because there is a bond that no pain can break. There is a unique bond that holds us together.

There will be a million forces in the world to pull us apart and a trillion to pull us together. No matter where we are, where we stand, how long it has been since our last conversation, we are linked. There is an invisible thread of love that can withstand any quarrel, war or pain between us. We share a past and enough stories to write decades worth of blogs. Some stories are sad and were a true test to our resilience as a family and some with happy endings. Those memories bring tears and smiles to our lives. They make us feel alive or dead inside. I hold on to all those happy memories that bring a smile to my heart. I hold on to your voice, hugs and even to that odd way you have of being that makes you unique to me. I hold on to my family! We have an army of friends that stand on our side and are beyond thankful to God for them! But we still need to recruit a family member to make us complete. And when we fail to recruit any of them on our battalion there is an empty place in our heart that no friend can fill.

There is a part of us building this big wall of pride between us while a part of us yearns for that moment of true forgiveness. A moment where we can let go of our selfishness and strengthen that bond again. That bond is indestructible. We can try to break it apart with all we got! And it will survive! That little last weak thread will hold on until we have the courage to forgive and make that bond stronger. Dare to forgive and love! Dare to be compassionate! Dare to let go of pride! Dare to be empathetic! Dare to be part of the trillion forces that can pull your family together! Dare to speak up! Dare to let go of all the pain! Dare to pray for the ones you love when they fail to understand you! Dare to pray for yourself to ask God to help you be understanding! Dare to rebuild that bond with love! Our families are naturally imperfect….Guess what? Imperfect is fine! Together we are stronger!
