Small Changes Challenge

Friday, April 24, 2015

I've been doing this challenge for a few days, but I figured I should post it here to keep myself accountable. I'll go back a few days to remind myself what I've already done.

Day One (Sunday April 19, 2015): Get Started on the Right Track
Congratulations on joining SparkPeople's 30-Day 'Small Changes' Challenge! For a full month, we'll give you daily tips and challenges that make a big difference in your health and fitness. Today's challenge is simple: Tell just one person about your goals.
OK, here are my goals
My Goals:
1. I will stabilise my weight during the next three months
2. I will lose ten pounds by the end of the year
My Program:
1. I will exercise for an hour each day
2. I will bring my own food to work
3. I will see Shawna frequently and have my blood tested
4. I will manage my money so that it lasts the whole month
5. When I am able to chose between binging a purging and doing something else, I will do something else
6. I will brush my teeth at least once a day
7. I will go to the YMCA at least five times a week
8. I will start the day off with a mug of green tea and not a binge and purge
9. I will clean as best as I possibly can
10. I will not have meals out more than three times a week

Day Two (Monday April 20, 2015): Just 10?
Don't have time to get in a full workout? No sweat! Your challenge today is to commit to at least ten minutes of fitness. Doing something is better than nothing at all, and all those minutes really do add up!
I am not able to have a licence, so I do a lot of walking. I find that instead of getting a ride, I am taking a walk more to get my ten minutes in. I have gotten at least ten minutes of exercise in for every day for nearly two weeks.

Day Three (Tuesday April 21, 2015): Plan Your Power Start
What's the best way to start your day? With breakfast, of course! Your challenge today is to eat a healthy breakfast before you leave the house. A balanced morning meal revs your metabolism, gives you sustained energy, and can help keep your weight in check.
I have been eating a small bowl of Fibre One and Silk Unsweetened Cashew or Almond milk along with (usually egg whites or whole eggs). Unfortunately, today I cannot eat because I have a tooth that is falling out and really hurts. I will get that fixed later at the dentist.

Day Four (Wednesday April 22, 2015): Find a New Food Favorite
When was the last time you tried something new? Today, your challenge is to try a new-to-you healthy food. You might be able to find one in the list below!
On this day, I tried Tofu Shirataki. It was quite good.

Day Five (Thursday April 23, 2015): Take a Stand
Studies show that sitting wreaks havoc on your health. Your challenge today is to get up and move at least once an hour. Whether you do some jumping jacks, walk to the water cooler, or try a few stretches, every little bit counts!
Yesterday I went to work so I was standing for my entire six hour shift.

Day Six (Friday April 24, 2015): Make Yourself a Priority
If you've been missing out on "me" time lately, reclaim it today! Spend at least 15 minutes doing something just for you: Read a book, go for a walk, or spend some time on a hobby you love--anything that makes your soul happy!
Today I intend to do my nails. They are not very nice looking at the moment. But right now I really need to distract myself from the pain in my tooth.
