The cat that wasn't

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

A week and a half ago I found out about a Maine Coon cat in an animal shelter about 20 miles away. Since my Maine Coon cat, Mulligan, died last fall I've been thinking I need another Maine Coon cat. They have wonderful personalities and are more interactive than your average cat. I had my first Maine Coon, Finn, for 18-1/2 years and Mulligan for 11-1/2 years, so I've had lots of experience with them among my other cats. I finally got to the shelter early Saturday afternoon, only to be told the cat was in the process of being adopted right then. I met his brother, a gorgeous cat, but they are a year old and have never been truly socialized with humans. I'm not home enough to provide the right environment for a cat like that, so no new kitty. Also took up a lot of the daylight hours Saturday.

However - I did list with a web site for pet adoption and said i want a male Maine Coon kitten. Kitten season is just starting, so there is a high probability I will get an email about a kitten within the next two months. Much better solution for me and my other pets.

I'm moving a little slow this evening, largely because I donated blood at a blood bank this afternoon. I was told not to do any heavy exercise for the rest of the day after that and I'm feeling pretty tired, so I won't get in my 120 minutes today. Wish we could carry over minutes from yesterday. emoticon

Oh, I can't wait until you get your kitten. I agree, a semi-feral cat is no fun to get "situated" if you are not home!

Ha...ha...wouldn't you just KNOW it! Another common link! We had a FANTASTIC cat I called Mr. Peepers that lived to be about 18 years old! He was a BEAUTIFUL cat and the most loving baby in the world...he was Blue Smoke Persian AND Maine Coon..definitely a lovie~doll! I wish I had a picture...imagine a BIG guy all Persian blue smoke fur with the quirky Maine Coon cool! emoticon I surely loved that big guy!

Hope you find the perfect one...if we ever get cats again I'll be sure to check into another Maine Coon...they are so smart and so loving! emoticon

Take care my friend and have a relaxing weekend! emoticon

You are wise to wait for the right one. You bond so much better when they are younger.
You need a quite day after giving blood, proud of you

Aw, I hope you can find you a new Maine Coon cat! We ( my neighborhood) have 2....they are brothers, but one is aloof and not social with people, but the other is a polar opposite! What a love! One in particular neighbor feeds and cares for him, but he comes and visits! We all love him and enjoy his silly antics and his visits. He loves to get up in your lap and get his face rubbed! Yep, I said his face! hehe His name is Duncan and such a sweet lovie.
Wishing you much luck in finding just the right Maine Coon to live with y'all!! ((HUGS))

I will keep you in my prayers that in the next few months Heavenly Father will bring into your life a new kitty. HE LOVES YOU.
