Yesterday I posted a blog about body image and loving yourself no matter what your weight. So I decided to take a look from head to toe and list off the things that I like about myself. I will print it (now that my brother fixed our printer
) I hope this doesn't sound too conceited. If I were to list the things I don't like about my body, it would be a far longer list, but that would just make me depressed, so I see no reason to do that. I am trying to be positive. So, here goes:
I like that my hair is growing. I had brain surgery last May and had to shave my head. I now appreciate my hair even though it is not as long as I would like it to be. It will get there.
I also like the colour of my hair. It is a mixture of brown and dirty blond. I intend to intensify this trait with the sun's rays in the summer.
I like my disfigured ear. In an incident I won't discuss here, most of my earlobe on my left side is now gone. I have a little knob that I pierced recently. I think it gives my face character.
I like my large pupils because they help me see well in the dark. I also like the fact that I am quite nearsighted because it is something that is correctable with lenses and I have superior close-up vision when I take my lenses off.
I like my skin because I don't have acne or any other terrible facial skin problems. I have had accidents where I have had to go to the hospital and have the skin on my face repaired but the scars are not noticeable, and I am thankful for that.
I like the colour of my skin because I can have colourful tattoos. Also, the sun leaves me with some freckles which are not unattractive. I am light enough that my scars aren't terribly visible when mature (i.e. gone white). I am thankful that I have healed well from burns. A doctor told me that I would need surgery for my burns one time and I did not. I have my skin to thank.
I am not really thrilled with my height but one advantage of being short is that I can wear children's or adult's clothes so I have a greater variety of wardrobe options. The same goes for my feet. I can wear children's or adult's shoes. Also, I can wear heels as high as I want.
That's really all I can think of right now. For me, that's huge.
