Variety is overrated...

I was talking to a good friend the other day about our goals and food plans. When I told her that I have the same thing for breakfast every morning she said, "But don't you get bored?"
I love my breakfast.
Old fashioned oatmeal (yes... cooked the old fashioned way... In a pot on the stove) with unsweetened almond milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and two egg whites mixed in for and extra protein punch!
It is so filling and gives me so much energy.
I feel good about feeding my body well first thing every morning.
.... and it's not boring.
You know what boring is?
Boring is seeing the same numbers on the scale every day, and the same measurements on the tape.
Boring is staying with a bad pattern that just isn't working.
Boring is being consistently disappointed with oneself for continuing to make the same "mistakes" over and over again.

Doing what works?
No. Not boring.
I'm sticking with my oatmeal.

    I have several breakfasts I rotate between. Usually I get on a roll and it will be oatmeal every day for a week, then shredded wheat with fruit and I also do a breakfast sandwich. I never get bored even though I eat the same thing over and over again. We have our main meal at lunch time and a big salad for supper - every night. We never get tired of that, either.

    I practically eat the same dinner every night. I change the veggies or protein once in a great while, but other than that I am a happy camper.

    emoticon emoticon Routines really help me in everything! When you know what you're having, your mi nd doesn't start thinking about different kinds of foods and giving your weaknesses a chance to worm their way into your thoughts. I have three set breakfasts and I choose mainly based on the time I have to prepare it. I like your comparison of what boring really is. emoticon

    If I'm home I usually have a sunny side up egg on a piece of toast for breakfast. Some people just don't understand how delicious your favorite breakfast is!

    I do the same things, I usually eat the same foods everyday. I do what works for me. It also makes it very easy to track.
