Be here now...

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

I felt so much more in control when I was a young wife and mother. Now that our children are grown with children of their own we have been empty nesters for over 15 years. I'm feeling the effects of aging and facing the mistakes I've made in the past with the lifestyle that I couldn't figure out how to change. I'm making decisions and changes that I hope will help me live the rest of my life with grace and dignity, with love and improved health, with strength and confidence to face the unknown with courage and faith. Hindsight hurts sometimes, and dwelling in the past isn't healthy. By acknowledging the past however, maybe it would be easier to let it go and to live in the present moment.

Indeed.... hindsight is always 20/20 and the older we get the longer past we have to look back on but that's what this life is all about. We live in and learn from the physical here on Earth. The sad part would be if we didn't learn emoticon Today we leave all that behind and get on with our healthy journey emoticon

I agree with you, we have all made mistakes, but we learn for them and continue on. emoticon emoticon

Can't change the past but you can learn from it! You have. That's what 's important.

Very true. We need to embrace our past, realize what we could or could not do. Learn from it and put it away on the shelf and move on.

What the past does do though is make a great base for the future.... Think of building a road. the undersurface isn't pretty necessarily, but without it the new top doesn't have much support! Sometimes the more difficult the undersurface was-- rocky, packed with boulders we don't want to lift again-- the stronger our resolve to keep the top in good shape. Go forward from here, knowing you have reasons to value where you are at!!
