Oh, the Apps

Monday, April 13, 2015

I'm not a millenial so they don't come as easy to me as breathing. I'm not a techie, but I work for a small start-up software company as a trainer to those who use the software. I am a translator from tech to average user. So I always ask techies to explain something to me as if I was a 1st grader.

But if someone shows me a cool app that will actually motivate me, I'm full out 'nerd.'

I was so excited tonight to try out my new free app that tracks my steps (thanks to those of you who suggested a pedometer, as I've used one before and it never registered correctly), but the rainstorms thwarted my efforts. If only I'd have walked this morning during the bright sunshine and cool air in the midst of beginning buds and blooms. Hoping for clear skies and a better schedule to try it out tomorrow.

If any of you have any apps you'd like to recommend for the benefit of my health, I'm all eyes!

Peace out,
AndreaG89

I have had many different pedometers and will probably not get the walking app as I don't remember to 'turn it on' when I walk or I don't remember the phone but I always put the pedometer on in the morning, lol

I have an old Tracfone, so no apps for me. I will pay attention to you as I will be upgrading soon. Maybe I will be the newbie, and you could be my techie. That means you have some homework to do so I can borrow your knowledge.

emoticon and then show me how.

    Enjoy the new toys, Konrad

I don't have a smart phone or Ipad so no apps for me. Good luck! Finding something that motivates us is key and if this works, more power to you!

I've never had success with pedometers because I was never able to get them to track my steps correctly. I had even bought myself a watch to wear that tracked my steps and I just found it frustrating. What works better for me and what I've found more motivating is to track my miles during my workouts with a GPS. I love to see how many miles I've gone and to push myself further, and because it is tracked via GPS I know it is accurate. I bought myself a TOMTOM Runner watch and wear it during my runs and love it because it is easy to use, but there are also apps on your smartphone that you can download that will track your distance via GPS as well. I hope that helps!

I don't have a smart phone so nothing to suggest, though it sounds so exciting anyway. I have a kindle fire, but too big to drag with me everywhere. Doesn't work in the sunlight either!

We had our fair share of rain/gray days. But when the sun comes out I go slap on the sunblock and go explore. Slowly. My left leg muscles are weaker due to back and nerve thing that seems a bit worse. But I can walk and so no excuses. Use it while one has it to use!
