Continuing my efforts to move toward a kinder, gentler, more accepting attitude toward myself, especially my body I was inspired to "hear" a love song from a different perspective.
John Legend's "All Of Me"...such a wonderfully romantic song! But check out the chorus:
"'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh"
What if these words, instead of being for that special other person in one's life, they were directed toward OURSELVES?
Recently I up-ended this song and heard it as an ode to self-acceptance. Take in ALL those "curves and edges" and give all my love and acceptance to ALL of me. Hey after all, we're in it for the long haul!
I remember reading somewhere that one of the secrets to a long happy relationship between two people is accepting each other, even things that at first seem to detract from the person as a whole. But we ARE whole people and this applies to our individual selves as well.
Here is a link to the song:
If you'd like, choose to listen to it as an ode to a kinder, gentler attitude toward our WHOLE selves...
Stronger with heart & SPARK!
