BSG Bonus Blog Week 1

Tuesday, April 07, 2015

One of our blogs for the A&I BSG Challenge is to tell what Easter means to me, how I celebrate it and a favorite memory.
Easter to me means the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus died for my sins and rose on the third day (Easter) so that I may live with Him eternally in Heaven.

I celebrate Easter with my family. We awake early Easter morning and attend the first church service. When we return home the kiddos look for their Easter baskets. We have dinner, sometimes it is potluck style but since we moved to Ohio I do all the cooking of the meal. When we were in MN we would go to a siblings or grandparents (until they passed away) house and do a potluck style meal which varies. Here in Ohio I cook the full meal. The rest of the day is playing games with the kids and just hanging out together as a family. If weather is appropriate we would fly kites.

A favorite memory I have of Easter is always going to church. Dressing up in our best Sunday clothes. Many times we celebrated Easter at my grandmother’s house. As soon as we would get to the top of the hill and see her house we would yell “I see grandma’s house”. Although we did that every time we went to her house. I remember going to my bothers one Easter and we had a lot of snow. We made snow bunnies, which didn’t quite turn out to look like bunnies and we borrowed his neighbor’s lawn ornaments for decorations. We had a great time and lots of laugh. Just spending the time with family, laughing, playing games and or cards and just enjoying ourselves is a huge memory for me no matter whose house it was held at.

Beautiful Easter memories -- I can remember some Easters spent throwing snowballs, too! (Not anymore now that I live in a subtropical place). We like to attend the early bird mass also; it's so beautiful to attend church while the sun rises.

Wow - in MN one has to be prepared to celebrate in anyway one can. I love using the lawn ornaments to decorate. What a fun memory. I'm sure the kiddos will remember being with you and church and playing games as a family. Wonderful! emoticon

It sounds like you have created new traditions for your family since moving to Ohio. It's always good to create new traditions.

It sounds like you have some great memories from going to your grandmother's house to celebrate Easter. I like the memory you have from going to your brother's house one Easter. Sounds like everyone had lots of fun.
