We returned yesterday from a week long visit with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. I was a little worried about completing my exercises and eating healthily. I shouldn't have worried.
Our kids live right next to a hospital with a 1-mile track around it. I was able to walk that just about every day. I met some old friends at the local enclosed mall and walked around in the mall before meeting them. I used the Spark videos to complete the strength-training exercises. My husband was kind enough to support my exercises in the motel room coming and going - walked outside the motel, on a treadmill and up and down the long hall and using the computer for strength training. At one point I even walked in place in the room. (Needless to say, playing with a a 2-year old and a 13-month old added to my calorie expenditure!) And my 2-year old grandson tapped my SparkTracker at the end of each day to see if I had reached my goal!
Our kids are trying to eat more healthy food as the little ones are growing. My daughter-in-law let me cook a couple of evening meals since they both work all day. And I loved some of the dishes she cooked. She had emailed before we arrived and asked for our top 6 items we would like to have in the kitchen to eat while we were there. How thoughtful! And it made me think about what I wanted while I was there.
So with lots of intentional planning on my part and the support of all of them, I was able to stay on track.
Reflecting back on that today, I really appreciate how important the support of your family truly is and understand a little better what a difference it can make.
Spark On, Friends!
