Wellness Center--First Day

Thursday, April 02, 2015

I think my first day went fairly well--I didn't hurt myself! LOL I was able to warm up with a 10 minute spin session, a slow one, but got it done, none the less. Added a 10 minute treadmill, then a recumbent bike for 10 minutes and ended with 50 leg presses on the sled, about 10 minutes. I'm supposed to go slow on that one and hold, not just go fast. I know it sounds like a lot for the first day but when I was in physical therapy, they started my first day a lot stronger than that! Slow and easy was my pace. This is very much about my knee replacement, I'm still in some pain and have inflammation, even after all these months. My surgery was Oct. 7, last year, it will soon be 7 months, I feel like I should be in better shape by now. Doctor says the knee looks fine and he can't see anything wrong, so I must be a slow healer. I know they say it takes a full year to get back to normal, I just don't think that I should have this much pain this far out. We will see how this goes, I'm hoping the extra exercise will do the trick. Wish me luck! Have a great Thursday!

Wow! Good for you!! The plate on the sled weighs 60 pounds, so what you were doing wasn't insignificant. I often do leg presses and have wondered what affect they have on my knees. If you're part of your therapy regimen, they must be beneficial. Keep up the excellent work!!
