My crazy so-called life

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Oh, Jackie girl, what are you thinking YOU NUTCASE!

So, let me explain my nuttiness!! emoticon

Friday, was talking with a colleague about how I am going to be alone for Easter in Colorado, while my family is in Ohio. emoticon emoticon emoticon Sadness. But, it will be okay. I'm just going to miss them, but they are all coming out at different points in the next few months! YAY!

My colleague was teasing me about my slow progress adjusting to the altitude in CO and how he is running a marathon next month (he's from SC). He mentions to me the he is running a half marathon the day before Easter and how I should run it.

Let me share with you how our convo went:

JJ: Jackie, you should totally run this half marathon with me. You are a runner.

Me: Yea, I run at sea-level and not really run, I more or less walk/job. I've coined it 'wogging' :)

JJ: Well, you've been here for 2 months, you should be acclimated. You should run this.

Me: JJ, you're nuts. I'll die.

JJ: No you wont. Please. You work out all the time. And anyways, what else will you be doing? Come on. You always talk about all the healthy things you are doing.

Me: I seriously dont think I can do it.

JJ: Ya, you kind of seem like one of those 'talk a big game' kinda girls. I half expect you to say you cant on most things.

Me: Don't tell me I can't do something JJ. I'm a tough chick.

JJ: Mhmmm

Me: *signs up for race* calls JJ. WELLLLLL Mr. Know-it-all, I'll see you on Sat! emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's when I freaked out knowing that I just signed up for a half-marathon, at altitude, with a week to get my lungs and mind in order.

I mean, sure other people have to sign up for these things and not train for them, right? RIGHT??

No? Nah? Just me...

Thought so.

Peace and love and running thoughts!

Happy Tuesday!

    Oh my, Jackie !!

That is diving into it, head first.

But you are young and in shape, just listen to your body while you are doing it. Lots of accomplished runners to the 4/1 jog/walk split.

Altitude is a b tho, I totally agree.

Be safe and have fun !!
