Getting it done!

Thursday, March 26, 2015

So yesterday I was kind of thrown for a loop when I was suddenly asked to babysit. I hadn't gotten my run in for the day so I had to make a decision. Would I skip it all together or hustle my butt to make it happen? I chose to go for it! I'm actually quite proud of myself for that choice, because even though I didn't get to run my usual 2.4 miles, I still got in 2 miles and I felt good knowing I did something. It would've been so easy to just not go but I chose the hard thing. I CAN DO HARD THINGS!

I was so tired after I got home from babysitting around 9PM but I had the most terrible night of sleep. I went to lay down in bed around 11 and could not fall asleep! When I did fall asleep, I woke up repeatedly and couldn't recall whether I had actually been asleep because I woke up wide awake. It was just so frustrating because I have been going to bed quite late and waking up late, so I wanted to take advantage of being tired earlier and getting that good night's rest in order to wake up at a decent hour. Oh well I guess, I shall try again tonight.

I think I'm gonna go for 3 miles today on my run. The hardest part is finding where to run. I'm still getting familiar with my neighborhood, but I hate all of the hills because if I go down them I surely have to come back up them. Plus the side walks are all jacked up and if I'm not paying attention I could take a nasty tumble. I like to run at the high school track across the street from my house, but they recently put up a sign that says it's for class use during school hours. I get that, but then the school track team practices after school until about 5. I like to get my run over and done with during the beginning of the afternoon. So yeah, that's where I'm at. Hopefully I will find somewhere that works. If I can get 3 miles today I'll be ecstatic!

Maybe a phone call to the high school to see if they have a schedule-- if it's during school hours but the track isn't being used- maybe you can still use it? Having a track to run on is really nice for the "zen" part of running, when you get into your groove.

I use to run...long before kids and I gained a million lbs. But just listing to you talk about it makes me want to get there again!

    Dear Jilly,

Every little bits help. Better 2 miles than none.

    Enjoy the trip.
