I weighed in today

Why do I put so much focus on what the scales tell me? I know that it's not the only way to measure progress, this isn't my first rodeo, I know how getting fit works. Yet I still get bummed when I step onto the scale for weekly weigh in.

I lost a pound last week. Which is a loss - I know - but WOW I have been really working hard to maintain a daily exercise program and I was hoping for a bigger loss. I'm not letting it completely discourage me, but I won't deny the feeling of "UGHHH!!!!" when I saw the number this morning.

Honestly, losing 7lbs in 4 weeks isn't something I should complain about... but, it is what it is. I was expecting more based on my progress with health and fitness changes in the past, that's all.

Anyway, I'm still hanging in there. I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Hang in there! You've got this! It is discouraging not see a bigger number after all of your hard work and effort. But remember your body has to adjust to what you've been doing and starts to freak out a little. The numbers will come! Keep up the great work.

I'm reconsidering my scale again. I hid it a long time ago because of how it made me feel and I fear I'm going to have to do that again. I go into a weigh in so happy because I just know it will reconfirm what I'm feeling. It never does. I could lose 10 pounds and I'd still think, THAT"S IT? ALL MY HARD WORK FOR 10 MEASLY POUNDS!!. So yeah, maybe we should break up with our scales, maybe we should try measurement out for a while?

Are you feeling any better? More fit? More energy? Happier? If so, don't let the scale tell you that you aren't doing well. Listen to your body. After all, you might have lost 2 pounds of fat, but gained a pound of muscle! Your body is a complicated machine. Give it time and don't get frustrated.

I think we all feel that way when the scale doesn't reflect our hard work, whether it be a gain, staying the same, or simply not losing as much as we figured we would. I know I've felt that way many times... but as long as we keep plugging away, we will still get results :)
