Great timing there, chief.

It's just my luck that I come down with a cold just as it's getting nice out. UGH, what the frack, immune system?! Haven't I been giving you what you need to keep me safe from ye olde creeping crud? Especially Taylor's creeping crud; thought for sure she was going to be on quarantine... Anyway, I've been eating right and keeping hydrated and taking all my vitamins and getting to sleep on time... and... I dunno, all the excitement over the snow melting and the birds returning and my car starting without complaint just got to me, I suppose. Had the sneezies and congestion on the 11th, sore throat on the 12th... it all moved into my chest on the 13th, and my asthma joined the fun on the 14th. 15th was all about plugged and sore ears, 16th was much of the same. 17th was hacking and coughing like a seasoned smoker, as was today. So... hopefully it will have ran its course by the end of the week, and I'll just have my asthma to contend with during my time off work.

So... I've got a doctor's appointment two weeks from now, and I know they're going to tell me my weight is a mess and my blood pressure is jacked. I will carefully explain my habit turnaround and show my home BP numbers which prove that I'm perfectly fine but offices and sterile environments make me all kinds of jumpy. I'll get my med refill, come home, and try to enjoy the rest of my day. (I'm rather suspicious about my appointment being on April Fool's, though...)

Since today is the first day since it started getting nicer out that I haven't felt like death I told myself that I was going to go for a walk. Not one of my usual 6 mile powerwalks but a nice, brisk once and back from the riverwalk parking lot to the Y and back. Just a 3 mile venture when all's said and done. Yeah, no. I totally forgot about the construction at the 2nd bridge that sits between the lot and the end of the 'walk.... as in, the entire bridge is demolished and you have to take a ridiculous detour to get to where you're going. I thought, no biggie, I'll just turn around and walk up the other way on the other side of the 'lot. Well... As I turned toward the way I came my lungs and left ear decided that while it'd been lovely, it was time to scream now. My lungs started protesting the new usage and the bit of nip in the air... and my ear? No idea what happened! I took a breath, yawned a bit, and... Ugh, a moment of searing pain all down the side of my neck. The entire way back to the car it kept pinging and crackling when I swallowed or "opened" my throat in the slightest. Ugh... I wasn't even aware it was plugged up! I took that as a sign that I wasn't up to speed for cold walkies yet, and home I came to smack about my laptop to find out why my SparkTracker dongle wasn't connecting and to dig up some superglue to fix my tracker.

Yeah, it wasn't meant for hard wear while at work. The little bit on the top casing where the tab rests cracked and snapped off, so now it slides off at a moment's notice. I had to perma-glue the clip to the back, which means I'll need some other way to dig the battery out when it's time, but that's a small sacrifice. Better than coughing up money for a new one.

Second time I've broke this sucker, btw.

And that's that. Un-Spouse is at a work meeting, so it's fending for myself tonight. Fish on the menu! :)
