monday--good weekend

good morning! well our weekend was nice--good weather--sunnier and warmer than predicted on Saturday, and cooler and cloudier than predicted on sunday--so the weatherlady had the right weather--just the wrong day.
Saturday we went up to the wood place to get a laminated oak tabletop for the office desk (like butcherblock counter only oak). this place is an hour away from us. we did a bunch of other errands--got home about 2 oclock raring to get to work. opened the tabletop carton and we had a lovely blonde maple countertop. ooops. we needed the top today so I could match the stain color on the oak bookshelves. so back in the car it went, and away we went. made it to the store just before they closed and exchanged it. they were relieved because we paid for the oak and the maple costs a lot more.
but we got home and worked on cutting some lumber for another table in the same room, and got started on staining the bookshelves.
sunday we took the girls to the park in the morning, picked up some more stain, ate lunch and then went out into the yard with a pad and paper--intending to start our grand master plan for the garden re-do. instead we ended up with about three pages of trees that need to be taken out, dirt that needs to me moved, fences repaired, brush cleared etc. etc. but you have to start someplace, and this will "blank out" our canvas. a lot to think about--its almost overwhelming--so we just have to pick a place to start. and start.
today is supposed to beautiful--warm and sunny, so I am going to start. first up is clearing the winter growth in the front yard.
have a perfect Monday!

You had quite the busy day Saturday! It's always good to get your plan down on paper, not only what you want to do, but HOW you're going to do it! Sounds like you all have a good idea of what needs to be done!

I'm glad you got the oak you wanted but sorry it took two trips. At least it's time spent with your DH -- I always tell mine that when we have to wait together or do something twice. You do sound like you have your outside work cut out for you and you're so right that you just have to pick a place to start. Good luck with it all!

We are expecting rain later today so I suppose I better get our "kids" out for their walks early. The Weimaraner only does the second walk -- he likes to sleep in.
