My new rescue pup, Benjie!

We got a call on Thursday from the neighboring town's Humane Shelter that they had a Maltese/Shih Tsu mix pup about 9 months old. Her owner was an elderly lady who could no longer keep up with the care of a puppy. My DH went over from work and sent me a couple of snapshots & I was hooked. He was already named Benji & since he answers so well to that, we'll probably keep that name. He's a little shy but already coming out of it. He loves our kitty and like to try to play with her, as much as she'll let him!!

I wanted to write and tell you, that although you may not understand why your life has changed, you are a very lucky boy. The kind people at the shelter knew exactly who to call.

Now you have a forever home with a mommy, daddy and a kitty. They will keep you safe and give you lots of love. Be a good boy and I know we will be hearing more about you from your mommy.

Your little Benji is adorable!

We took guardianship of a five-year-old Shih Tzu from a Humane Society last summer. Our first dog companion ever, so it has been a real delight sharing our home & our lives with our four-footed little friend.

Any update on your Benji pup since you adopted him?

I do feel sad for young dogs that get bought by very elderly people as, so often, they end up at the shelter as their original owners cannot cope with the demands of a growing and energetic youngster. So glad that he has now got an excellent home.

I go into a lot of rescue places to groom rescue dogs, to spruce them up ready for new owners :)

I'm so pleased to virtually meet Benji but I'm saddened to hear that your beloved Susie passed away in December. I've really been out of touch.

If Benji has half the life Susie had he will be blessed!
