tuesday--nice tractor salesman!

good morning! yesterday was glorious! sunny, warm and melting. I don't smell the "spring smell" yet, but it can't be far off. melting melting melting. managed to start on the scoopathon, cleaning the back yard (all dog owners know what this is
made it to the park for a chilly, but wonderfully uplifting run--week four on the 8K interval series. still a very slow pace, but I am staying with the music and trying to concentrate on extending my stride length, which is extremely short. I can run at my normal speed later--I would really like to improve my stride and this is a perfect opportunity to work on it.
went to the grocery, but first I stopped at the tractor store. I was curious to know how I would be received as a woman alone asking questions about a tractor--and was very pleasantly surprised. the salesman met me on my own level--asked me specific questions about what I needed the tractor to do and explained the differences clearly to me. any questions I had about the mechanicals (they weren't too numerous--will leave that to DH the software engineer) were answered clearly and not like he was talking to a "little lady". he quoted me some prices and gave me print info and I told him I would be back with rob at a later time. the best part was watching rob as he pored over the print info and spent the whole night flying around cyberspace with his kindle, watching videos and reading up on things. looks like we are going to buy the larger one that comes from the factory with a bucket loader AND a backhoe. when I even think about owning a backhoe, I swear little angels begin singing and I hear little fairies laughing and the sun bursts into view. if you knew all the back breaking trenches, tree stumps, deep holes and pits we have dug you would understand. rob bears the brunt of most of these things because my upper back gives out at some point and I know I have to stop. he usually soldiers on alone while I rest--and now neither one of us will have to work as hard. it makes the whole idea of tearing out and re-doing the back garden a pleasure to think about.
so that was fun. lots of fun! the idea that I will be able to fund this item which would have been unattainable by any other means makes me very happy. thanks, mom and dad.
took a second trip to the park in the afternoon to walk the girls--I swear every person in the county with a dog was there. but we had a very nice short walk--they need to get into shape too. nice quiet dinner with oven roasted asparagus and brown rice. YUM.
working on the bookcases today, and painting. have a great Tuesday!
