The Time is...Well, Now.

Monday, March 09, 2015

So this weekend was pretty epic for me. I decided on Friday I was going to get a haircut, so I did that. And then I met up with a Spark Friend and had coffee (great times all around!), went shopping for the hubby's birthday next weekend, and then went and got my nose pierced.

I've been wanting to do it most of my life, but for whatever reason (fear of pain, social stigma) I didn't. And then as I got older I thought I was too old.

Well Saturday it came to me that I don't let society dictate how I act. Sometimes I'm too ballsy for my own good, sometimes too quiet- but it's all me. So I decided "my face, my rules!", and got it done. And it's pretty cool. emoticon

So now the overweight, almost 40 year old woman has done burpees with 5 yr olds and gotten her nose pierced. I wonder what else I'll do...what else I COULD do...

Good for you!!! I love it when anyone takes charge of their own life and personal decisions. Your nose piercing did not HURT me or anyone else (Lol, except maybe you - Ouch) and the rest of society need not worry their little heads over it.

I'm so glad to hear that you did something you've always wanted to do! That must have been kinda fun and adventurous.

The thing I want to do doesn't make much of a statement (but maybe I'm wrong)--TUMMY TUCK! Like Nora and Diane, however, I'm a coward and don't know whether I could actually go through with a body-altering procedure.

A nose-piercing is a kind of self-expression, though, and you sound happy finally to have gone through with it and I hope you really enjoy that! I have a strong feeling you will!

Oh Sparky, good on you! It is true, society doesn't get to dictate how we look. Now if I were your mamma I would not let you do it until you were 18, and well, nose piercing would be ok, belly button ok, ears ok, nips...NOT! Grounded for life....lmao. I can't imagine you any other way that doing your thing Shay. Glad you are happy with your decision! I am like Diane, a coward...lol.
Looking forward to what your next NEW THING to do will be! xoxo

Fantastic! I bet you look hot :)
My friend Amy keeps trying to talk me into getting a tat with her. My problem - I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain. That & I have no idea what picture I would like drawn on me for the rest of time :) Okay and the fact that the "drawing" is done with frickin' needles!! Ouch. Either way, kudos to you! It's always fun to do something new with ourselves. Glad you got your new cut & piercing!

The possibilities boggle the mind! Howl at the full moon until you get the coyotes stirred up? Dye your hair purple and become a superhero? emoticon Find out how magnificent Shae really is and live up to your full potential? BTW, I didn't start to find out who I was until I turned 40. Yeah, it is a magical age.

My sister who was 13 years older than I got her nose pierced in her 50's. I thought it was a bit bizarre at the time but then again she was my older sister.

Now as I feel society is trying to throw a proverbial afghan on my lap every time I sit down I think bravo....wonder what I should do to shake things up. emoticon
